Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI)
We built this nonprofit's development capacity by curating, training, and supporting a volunteer leadership team.
Client
CABVI, a Utica, NY–based nonprofit organization, has a mission to assist people who are blind or visually impaired to achieve their highest levels of independence. A major organization and economic force in the region, with over $70 million in revenue, CABVI offers rehabilitation, training, wellness, and support services; and, through federal contracts, robust employment opportunities for the blind and visually impaired through their call centers, garment packaging services, and more in multiple states.
Challenge
CABVI sought to raise $14 million for a headquarters and rehabilitation center. The organization engaged Innovative Resources to offer executive and board counsel to grow capital investment in their already successful fundraising efforts.
Our Solution
Innovative Resources counseled the organization to re-envision its development efforts to create an expanded culture of philanthropy and to believe in their abilities to raise the needed funds. We helped them create an effective and dynamic Leadership Team to spearhead the comprehensive campaign and to create a major donor program. We also provided training in volunteer-led engagement and asking of high-capacity prospects and donors.
Impact
CABVI’s new major donor program enabled the organization to successfully achieve its goal of raising $14 million for its new headquarters and rehabilitation center. It also has enabled them to continue a robust philanthropy program to support its future endeavors.
