El Salvador — the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America — emerged from a devastating 12-year civil war in 1992 to make significant progress in protecting civil and political liberties. Salvadoran society, however, continues to be marked by harsh inequalities, and many Salvadorans suffer from poverty, marginalization and violence.

Foundation Cristosal is a human rights and community development organization that works with the Salvadoran people to help them achieve development goals by defending rights, strengthening local democracy, and empowering the poor with the skills and resources to improve the quality of life for their families.

One of the Foundation's successful efforts supported 189 families whose homes were destroyed after heavy rains and mudslides. Foundation Cristosal partnered with community leaders to obtain legal rights to a new strip of land nearby in Le Anemona where families could rebuild their homes.

Innovative Resources Group provided organizational advancement and resource development for Foundation Cristosal.  Applying our trademark Strategic Action Process™, we helped the organization better articulate its vision of human rights and community development — while building volunteer leadership teams that cultivate relationships and generate greater support.

The result is a fundamentally stronger Foundation Cristosal — an organization with increased financial means, a clearer mission and more robust partnerships that can help the group continue its vital work of bringing greater peace, community development and justice to the Salvadoran people.
