On two separate campuses in the city of Newark—the Rutgers-Newark Campus and the Rutgers Health Sciences Campus at Newark—Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, distinguishes itself as one of the nation’s most esteemed public research universities.
In recent years, Rutgers University in Newark has expanded and increased its presence, and is now home to over 15,000 students and nearly 50 buildings on 103 acres. The “new” Rutgers-Newark offers the promise of expanded higher education opportunities for the state’s residents, but also has a much greater need for resources to support its role as a premier New Jersey institution.
While providing executive coaching to the senior leadership, Rutgers-Newark undertook a $94 million campaign to support its operations and expansion—and in 2013 achieved that campaign goal more than a year and a half ahead of schedule.
Innovative Resources continues to provide strategic guidance for the vice chancellor of development, working directly with her senior management team at each of the university’s seven schools. In that role, we help the university establish individual strategies while building toward a model that integrates alumni relations, development and communications.
“Our individualized focus at Rutgers involves working with staff and helping them to be really strategic about who to cultivate and how to match interests with institutional priorities,” says George Nehme, Senior Counsel at Innovative Resources Group.
